Terms and Conditions of using the sauna.
·
The sauna is wood-fired and is extremely hot. Do not touch the stove, stove door, flu chimney, sauna rocks, or surrounding fire guards, and only as instructed to pour water onto the stones.
· Alcohol and nudity are not permitted in the sauna. The Fellside Sauna operators reserve the right to refuse admission to intoxicated persons.
· Children aged 16 and under are not permitted to use the sauna.
· Any hanging jewellery should be removed before entering the sauna to prevent burning. (Please also check your swimsuit for metal parts – these will heat up and may cause burning).
· Any glasses or contact lenses should be removed before entering the sauna to avoid any damage to coatings and to prevent contact lenses from drying out.
· All persons using the sauna do so at their own risk. If you have any reservations regarding sauna use, it is essential that you consult your GP before making a booking.
· You must seek medical advice to use the sauna if you:
· If you're pregnant
· If you've had a heart attack or stroke
· If you're taking any medications
· If you have cardiovascular conditions and/or problems
· You have epilepsy
· You have asthma or breathing conditions
· High or low blood pressure
· If you have arterial disease
· If you have joint or muscle injury
· If you are prone to dizziness or fainting
PLEASE DO NOT attempt to use the sauna if you suffer from any of the above without seeking medical advice prior to using.
· All persons using the lake as a 'cold plunge' do so at their own risk. It is your own responsibility to ensure that you are a capable swimmer and can handle being exposed to the cold temperatures. Fellside sauna operators provide other methods of cooling between rounds of sauna bathing. Similarly, using the cold tub is done so at your own risk.
· Sauna etiquette must be adhered to at all times. This includes;
· Washing feet in the bucket provided before entering the sauna
· Sitting on a towel at all times (please bring your own towel – one to sit on and an extra one to get dry)
· Staying in the sauna for no longer than 15 min at a time (we recommend 5-12 min sessions)
· Gently pouring water onto the sauna stove; drizzle, don't dump water
· Only pouring the provided 'sauna water' on hot rocks and only a small amount of essential oils diluted as instructed.
· Stay hydrated before, during and after your sauna session.
· Please refrain from bringing your own essential oils and other products for the session as these cannot be used in our sauna. Essential oils that haven't been approved for in-sauna use may react to the heat and release toxins, ignite on the stove, or create slippery surfaces inside the sauna.
· The stove is exclusively used by staff – at no times can you touch, put logs in the fire, open/close the stove door or move the stove vents. Please ask the sauna operator to make any adjustments.
· If you are making this booking on behalf of a group, it is your responsibility to make your group aware of the terms and conditions and to practice safe sauna use.
Fellside Sauna operators reserve the right to refuse entry, cut short, or cancel sessions for any reason that may be deemed a health and safety risk, if there are concerns about risky behaviour, or if any of the above rules are not followed. Refunds will not be offered to anyone refused admission.
